Connection Issues

Ensure your server is running & accepting remote connections

Though this may seem obvious, please double-check your server is online, the application you’ve written is running and accepting connections on the port you’ve provided. A tool like “ping” or “netcat” may work here. Please also ensure you’re matching the secured/unsecured ports with your application (ie. not using an unsecured TCP connect on a secured SSL server port).

Double-Check your Firewall

Another common cause is a firewall that is causing issues. Please ensure software/server-level firewalls (like ufw on Linux) are allowing connections to your port. Furthermore, please try pinging your server from the connecting computer to ensure the IP isn’t being blocked by one of your own firewalls.
